Jesus’ final recorded words while on earth were these instructions: “you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8, HCSV) We believe that His words show us the progression we should follow today, as well. He told His disciples to start at home – Jerusalem and Judea; next He told them to expand their horizons and go to Samaria; He wasn’t finished yet, though. He told them to go “to the ends of the earth,” or, as translated in the King James Version of the Scriptures, “the uttermost parts of the earth.” He wanted them to see the harvest that existed in faraway places… among different nationalities and cultures. Can you imagine how impossible that command sounded to men and women whose primary forms of transportation were horses or camels? Yet, they accepted the challenge. In today’s world of international travel and accessibility, can we do any less?
Here at The Crossing our focus is indeed first on our own area… being a “city set on a hill” right here at home. However, God has opened doors for us to go across the globe sharing His love and the message of salvation. In the last few years, our members have ministered in Belize, Honduras, Ecuador, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Israel and Thailand (to ministers from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar, as well as Thailand). In nearly all of these nations, we have an ongoing relationship with local pastors and church bodies. In addition to our involvement in these nations, we actively support missions in every part of the world through the Church of God World Missions Department. We invite you to join us in God’s plan to reach “the uttermost.”
