As a church grows larger, it can easily begin to feel less personal… less like “home.” A strong church is built upon strong relationships between its members. While our corporate worship times serve to strengthen the Body of Christ at large, individual members still want and need personal involvement and attention. That’s where our small groups come in!
All across the Tri-state area on nearly every night of the week, we have small, dedicated groups of believers coming together to share fun and fellowship, dreams and desires, as well as burdens and issues… to share life. Our small groups are places to build strong lasting relationships; however, they are more than that - they are vehicles for change! In the Great Commission, Jesus commanded us to “go into all the world and make disciples.” Too often, we stay in our churches, expecting the world to come to us. We also rarely make more than a token effort at discipleship. In fact, in recent research conducted by The Barna Group, it was found that only a handful of churches in the United States were actively involved in discipleship. During His time here, Jesus demonstrated for us that true discipleship isn’t effectively accomplished in big crowds, but in a small group setting. Our small groups go out into their neighborhoods and communities, meeting in homes all over town every week; they also provide a place for members to participate in open, transparent discipleship and character development.
In Ephesians 4:3, Paul exhorts us to: “Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” What better place to grow in your relationship to Christ, as well as to other members of His family? Come on, get connected.
